Project description
Adriatica Supermarket is a well-known food store in Bacău, for several reasons: it is one of the few locations open 24/7 in the city, it has been present in the food retail industry since 1993, and its owners have offered a wide range of food products across multiple categories to their customers.
Given that the store operates 24/7, it was quite challenging for the owner to make such a major decision as replacing all refrigeration equipment in the store, as this meant halting sales for several days. However, driven by the desire to switch to a more efficient, more effective and better-designed refrigeration solution, and with the support of our technical team, they took this important step for their business.
Our technical team mobilized quickly to ensure all equipment was delivered and positioned swiftly. For the refrigeration installation, the team worked around 16 hours a day to complete everything as fast as possible, minimizing disruption — the store continued to operate 24/7 even during the works.
Most refrigerated display cases produced by Igloo are multiplexable, and with many sizes and options available, it is easy to create lines with a unified design that are at the same time extremely functional for any need our clients may have, and adaptable to any type and size of space.
This food store project was a complex one and included the following equipment:
A Santiago horizontal refrigerated display case line consisting of three multiplexable units: 2 x 1.1m with ventilated cooling and one 2.1m with static cooling, providing the space needed to maintain various types of refrigerated food products: dairy, cold cuts and fresh meat. One of the advantages of this display case model is that the curved glass is equipped with a front-lift telescopic system assisted by hydraulic pistons, allowing easier product placement and cleaning.
A Vario vertical refrigerated display case line consisting of three multiplexable units with sliding doors: one 1.25m, one 1.88m and one 2.5m. The client uses these display cases for presenting beverages, dairy products and packaged meat products.
A vertical freezer display case for maintaining frozen products, Vario M 1.56m.
A Vario refrigerated shelf with air curtain, with mirror side panels, for displaying and maintaining fruits and vegetables at controlled temperatures.
A Multicool Plus inverter refrigeration unit by Igloo, to which all refrigeration equipment in the food store is connected.
A Tecumseh condensing unit to which the freezer display case is connected.
Midea embedded fan coil units installed in the false ceiling of the commercial space, connected to the Multicool Plus refrigeration unit to capture the heat generated by the unit and convert it into warm air released inside the food store during winter.

All equipment was connected to external refrigeration condensing units to avoid heat being released inside the store, eliminating operational noise, and allowing maintenance/service work to be carried out without disrupting sales. Additionally, by installing an external condensing unit, a significant energy saving is achieved on the electricity bill as it increases the efficiency (COP) of the refrigeration system.
